Luxury modern extension to an existing cottage. This front façade of the existing cottage in a heritage conservation area was lovingly renovated and a modern contemporary two storey extension was added to the rear. The existing portion of the home has been kept traditional with high ceilings, detailed timber trims and skirtings boards, archways, and ornate cornices. As you move your way through the house you come to the juncture of old and new were the home morphs into a new modern space with open planned living spaces and large stacking doors overlooking the rear yard and swimming pool.
By designing and building the pool simultaneously with the home it has enabled us to bring the pool up to the enormous rear fixed panel window so when you are in the kitchen you feel like you are actually touching the pool. By designing the pool to be so integral to the house it gives daily benefit to the house by not only being used for swimming but also being a fabulous back drop and feature creating a luxury feel year-round.
