Major alterations and additions to a difficult site overlooking Sailors Bay in Northbridge. The existing house was completely stripped out and a top to bottom re-build which included a large amount of sandstone excavation to create the garage and lift shaft. This project entailed a complete transformation of the lower ground and ground floor levels and a new first floor addition. The house has a modern but still homely feel, and this is because of the careful consideration of the interior palette and styling which includes oak floorboards, bespoke steel balustrades to the stairs, detailed joinery and natural stone finishes.
The landscaping was also carefully considered to create flat usable spaces of lawn on the steep site. The garage roof was constructed with the appropriate water proofing and drainage to enable a flat, self-draining, irrigated lawn that is beautiful and usable all year round. This home has been designed and built with entertaining in mind, with large outdoor dining spaces and verandas with fully automated operable louvre roofs to either let light in or block bad weather out so they can be used in all occasions. This home will only get better as the garden establish and is a fantastic family home.
